nPlus1 is hosting it’s fourth Architecture Summit on July 30th at the Microsoft Office in Southfield, Michigan (Detroit area). The topic of the summit is Patterns and Principles. We are offering an optional morning session that runs from 10:00 AM to Noon. The morning session will be a two hour introductory session on Object Oriented Programming given by Chris Woodruff (Woody). If you are new to OOP then this would be a great primer for the afternoon sessions.
At CodeStock I gave a talk entitled, Be a Better Developer. Basically, in this economy everyone has to be thinking about how to improve themselves in order to stay relevant and employed. My talk focused on the some of the roles that developers play beyond just writing code and some tips on improving themselves. I think we all realize we need to keep up with what’s going on and make ourselves stand out to our employers.
Next month is CodeStock 2009! This is the second year of the event and they’ve already moved to a two day format. I wasn’t able to attend last year, but I heard it was a great event. I’m looking forward to attending this year. This year they allowed early registrants to vote on the presentations being given! If you haven’t already, check out the website (http://codestock.org) and get registered. If you register before June 1st then ticket is just $25.
