Legal File Swapping Software and a little rant

The BBC Technical artciles (RSS) is running a story on US Courts stating that file swapping software creators are not responsible for the content being swapped by their software. The US Movie industry was suing two file swapping software companies since people were swapping movies via their software. The Courts indicated that it was up to Congress to change the copyright laws to deal with this, not them. I guess now we’ll see the Hollywood going after the file swappers just like the record industry is gong after downloaders.

Ever wonder how a version of a particular DLL got on your computer? Ever wonder what products ship what version of a DLL? Microsoft has a handy online tool to figure this out (at least for the DLLs that they put out): The Microsoft DLL Help Database . For example, using the help database I see that version 2.80.1022.0 is the newest version of msador15.dll and ships in the following products:

Caskets at your local wholesale store?

I heard a small blurb on this on NPR on the way in to work this morning. This is just hilarious. Costco, a wholesale store like Sams Club, is starting to run a trial of selling caskets in its Chicago stores. They are selling them along side the mattresses. So you can pick out what you want to sleep on now, and when you die. The radio spot said expect 48 hours for delivery.
