Geek dinner last night

Went to my first Nerd Dinner last night. I have to say that you could tell it was a definitely what it is labeled….dinner with nerds! Within the first five minutes of multiple people arriving we were talking about hardware and Think Geek T-shirts. Seven of us showed up. I knew all but one of them. We had a good time and lots of laughs. I learned a little family history from Bill and found out he owns his own plane.

Tablet status

Looks like my tablet is on its way back. The had an updated repair status on their website last night. I was a little worried when I saw that they had replaced the motherboard when I had sent it in to have the plastic end caps replaced. A quick call to tech support today and I found out that this isn’t unheard of. Apparently, when the end caps crack there can be some damage to the motherboard.

Some gotchas with sharing ASP and ASP.Net Cookies

I recently had a project that was in the process of migrating from ASP to ASP.Net. The site was a decent size, so we were moving part by part into ASP.Net. The authentication forms were still in ASP. There was the ability for users to save their user names and some other information by selecting a check box with the login form. Pretty simple stuff, except that the cookie was storing it unencrypted.
