Last night at dinner the discussion turned to interview questions and how hard interviews are at different places. Nino had interviewed me when I first applied for GA Sullivan (a company now assimilated into Avanade) and if I hadn’t been studying for my MCSD at the time for VB6 I don’t think I would have been hired. Nino had a vicious reputation at GA for giving some rough interviews. I think he made a few people cry.
Last night was the Nerd Dinner. Only Ben, Nino and I showed (that we know of), but it was a good time for sure. Lots of discussion on projects, processes, Whidbey and the joys (or lack there of) of CAML. Definately good company. Maybe next time we’ll get more people, but even if we don’t I’m sure we’ll still have a good time.
Microsoft has started a new developer center at MSDN called Coding for Fun. It’s geared toward hobbyist programmers and people wanting to start coding. This is an interesting approach that Microsoft has taken, especially with the releasing of the “express” products (VB.Net Express, C# Express, etc) as free development environments. There are not many articles on the site currently, but a few. They even have a few articles that will help you start game design (working with DirectX).
